Maria Vladimirovna Garth is a visual artist and scholar based in New Jersey. She is currently a Ph.D. student in Art History at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. She studies modern and contemporary art with a specialization in Russian and Soviet avant-garde art and visual culture and the history and theory of photography. As a Dodge Fellow at the Zimmerli Art Museum, she works in the Department of Russian Art and Soviet Nonconformist Art as a curatorial assistant helping organize exhibitions of the Norton and Nancy Dodge Collection of Nonconformist Art from the Soviet Union. Maria earned an M.A. in Art History from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2018.
